Hotel VARA, hotel in Truro

Whether you're visiting Truro to work or explore, Hotel VARA is an affordable ‘boutique’ sized hotel in a classic townhouse that sits in a leafy residential neighborhood.

The greeting on arrival was very professional and the lounge is nicely decorated in a boutique style. The manager and staff were very nice and are a credit to the hotel. They have to deal with a very unpleasant owner who is most definitely not a credit to his hotel.

The hosts were very helpful and friendly from the moment we pulled into their on-site parking to the time we departed to our next destination. They recommended a nice pub within walking distance. We engaged in good conversation with them during breakfast. The facility was convenient for our travels and the room was quiet, clean and adequate for the two of us.

Cozy, open plan barn with log burner, hotel in Truro

Located 25 km from Newquay Train Station, Cozy, open plan barn with log burner provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

We had cream tea and milk and flowers 💐 on arrival and a greeting written on slate. Sarah met us when we arrived and had given clear directions how to find the Barn. We didn’t use the log burner because the weather improved by the day. Like Crowded House we always take the weather with us. The bike hire place is next door after the picturesque stream. Nice and peaceful in the country and not far from Truro.

Truro is a lovely city in Cornwall.

Truro is a lovely city in Cornwall. People are friendly and hospitable. Tons of restaurants, shops, cafe's, and there is a Town Hall that has entertainment, movie house so a short stay here would be filled with lots to do. The Cathedral is a lovely place to visit and there is lots to do from this central point. Hire a car and head to Newquay, Falmouth or St Ives for the day.

    City centre was lovely!

City centre was lovely! We enjoyed meandering through the cathedral (which was very grand, the architecture absolutely brought me to tears, managed to light a prayer candle for lent, also they have an ongoing exhibit about awareness of abuse in the church) and the cornwall museum is closeby :D they have wacky artefacts. The coffee and cornish pasties and the pastries are the bomb dot com but the other grub not so much, i mean, it's just typical british fare innit haha also truro station connects easily to penzance and the other more touristy bits. Transportationwise, quite hard, buses are a little but unreliable even with the time table. Not much uber drivers but the taxis are popping. There are taxis around the station and they have a taxi calling app and there are cards that you can get from the accommodation. Pretty old timey but charming.

Truro is an attractive small city and it’s easy to find parking and to walk around the shops and see the cathedral. There are plenty of places to have coffee or lunch. The bus station is right beside the shopping area, which has a large Marks and Spencer’s, which has a cafe, a large branch of Waterstones as well as a good selection of independent shops and an indoor market.

Great base for exploring Cornwall but not sure what it’s like in summer. We parked in the town with ease but we visited in November. Masses of shops. It is the county town so is a magnet for shoppers. Cathedral and Cornwall Museum worth a visit. Hall for Cornwall has a variety of shows. Thoroughly enjoyed the pasty shop for lunch. Check roadworks though. A30 was closed intoTrurofor the whole weekend whilst work is going on building the new by pass. It took us ages to follow the detour.

I did want to explore the town a bit more, especially the cathedral, but this visit was to see a show and I had to return the next day. I had a meal at an Italian restaurant literally up the road from the hotel, it was decent enough.

Truro is a lovely place to visit.

Truro is a lovely place to visit. Old and new buildings to see and plenty of places to go. Resturants of many different cuisines and a nice open area to sit and chill with a coffee. There is a beach, about 7 miles away, (Perranporth) which is lovely and has the traiditional fish and chips, kiss me quick hats etc and you're not too far away from the north side so Newquay etc is all available within 45 to 60 minutes in the car. Supermarkets are a plenty in and around Truro too. The catherdral is a must to visit. A beautiful building and well worth some time spent.

This is brilliant. The lodge overlooks a picturesque lake, complete with resident nesting ducks. There is a kitchen / dining / sitting area, along with a generous-sized bedroom (four poster bed) and separate bathroom. Upon our arrival we found scones, jam and cream waiting for us and a lovely welcoming note. We met our hosts the next morning, and we loved hearing about how they had built the lodge themselves. Definitely one of the best we have ever stayed in.

Not often when booking accommodation that reality is better than the advertised photos! Secluded in a peaceful area the property was exceptionally clean with everything you needed. Your own personal parking space next to the entry gate was so convenient plus the outside seating area was an added bonus. Situated a short distance from Truro town centre it is close to all main road routes for each direction so perfectly located for touring Cornwall.

We organised a last minute break 4 night break to Cornwall and chose Chycara because it was within budget, the location was perfect and the accommodation was different to what we’d normally book (a b&b/hotel). We stayed in the Lake Lodge which was, as you’d expect, near the lake. It was clean and tidy and located in beautiful, peaceful grounds. Set just outside of Truro we were within easy reach of the east & west coast.

Had an amazing stay. The rooms were great and morning breakfast was amazing. The hosts were amazing and were very helpful in suggesting the right places to visit and transportation options. Both Norbet and Peter were really friendly and would like to thank them for all the support they provided us during our first visit to cornwall. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting cornwall and truro.

The location in Truro was very good, an easy walk to supermarkets, pubs, shops and the cathedral. Truro is a good base for exploring Cornwall. The cottage had a lot of character and charm and the decor was well coordinated. The beds were very comfortable. It was good having a car park, even though access to it was a bit tight. Communication from the hosts was excellent- prompt and detailed.

Very convenient location, near the Hall for Cornwall and shops. My room was just a short flight of stairs from Reception, the Restaurant and the entrance/exit to the hotel, which was very helpful; and, despite being in the middle of the city, it was quiet and peaceful. I particularly liked having cheese and French bread for breakfast, and there was a good selection of fruit juices.

This pub accommodation was as good as a mid-range hotel. The rooms were really spacious, modern, well-designed and maintained. I certainly wasn't expecting a Nespresso coffee machine either. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free, doorstep parking (with EV charging) and close proximity to Truro city centre completed the benefits of my stay.

The Donnington was a short walk to the centre of Truro. We had a lovely welcome to our well equipped room. We had a fridge and microwave and a lovely comfortable large bed. The lady who showed us our room was knowledgeable about the area and directed us to the best route into Truro. Views from our room where beautiful.

Gorgeous old English house. When you walk in the decor and ambiance is top notch. There is a fireplace in a beautiful lobby where I spent a good amount of my time. I had large room and it was indeed very spacious and clean. Brisk walk down the hill and you're right in the center of Truro.

I loved the Queen related decor of the apartment (as a big Queen fan) but also the apartment was in a great central location in Truro and allowed us to fully explore Cornwall. The apartment was clean and well laid out for a family of our size. Did I mention the Queen connections ??
